Flomax (Tamsulosin)

Usage indications

Flomax is used for the treatment of increased prostate (benign hyperplasia of prostate BHP). It can also be used for the treatment of other diseases based on doctor’s prescription.

Mode of application

Use Flomax on doctor’s recommendation only. Strictly follow instruction manual.

• be sure to consult your doctor in case of any questions concerning this drug intake. Flomax is for inside intake 30 minutes after meal every day.
• take pill fully without chewing.
• during single miss of Flomax doze intake, it is necessary to take the doze as soon as possible. If the time of missed doze intake corresponds to the time of next doze intake the drug intake should be missed. The double dosage is prohibited for intake. If you missed the intake of more than 2 dozes of Flomax, contact your doctor for further instructions.

Mechanism of action

Flomax is an alfa blocker. It acts by relaxing the muscles of prostate and urinary tract by prompting the amelioration of urine flow and the decrease of BHP symptoms.

Missed dozes

During single miss of doze intake, it is necessary to take the doze as soon as possible. If the time of missed doze intake corresponds to the time of next doze intake the drug intake should be missed. The double dosage is prohibited for intake.

Storage

Store product at room temperature of 77 F degrees (25 С degrees), away from sources of light and humidity. The short-term storage at the temperature of 59-86 F degrees (15-30 С degrees) is prohibited.

Precautions

DO not use Flomax, if:

• you are allergic to any Flomax component
• you take other alfa blockers (e.g. prazozine)

Contact your doctor immediately if any of the following related to you.
Some medical preparations can interact with Flomax.

Be sure to inform your doctor on any of the following situations or diseases:

• pregnancy, plans to get pregnant or breast feeding
• the intake of any drugs sold with or without prescription, vegetable preparations or food add-ons
• allergy to any drugs, food or other agents,
• heavy allergic reactions (e.g. heavy rash, nettle rash, breathing difficulties, giddiness) to any sulfonamide (serum containing agents): atcetazolamide, celecoxib, some diuretics (e.g. hydrochloretiazide), urea sulfonil (glibenklamide), probenecide, sulfametoxazole, valdecoxibe or zonisamide.
• high blood pressure or prostate cancer
• you are going to have eye surgery.

Some medical preparations can interact with Flomax.
Be sure to inform your doctor if you take other drugs specified below:

• alfa blockers (prazozine) or phordiestraze inhibitors (sildenafil) as they might cause blood pressure decrease (heavy giddiness or fainting)
• antifungal drugs (e.g. ketokonazole), cimetidine or serotonine, back capture inhibitors (e.g. fluoxetine) as they can increase the risk of Flomax influence
• varfarine as it might increase the risk of side effects development.

Side effects

Be sure to consult your doctor if any of the most widespread side effects persists or irritates

• pain in back, vision problems, cough, sexual needs decrease, diarrhea, giddiness, sleepiness;
• cold, sinuses inflammation, sleep problems, weakness

Be sure to contact your doctor immediately if any of the following serious side effects occur:

• heavy allergic reactions (rash, nettle rash, breathing difficulties, chest constraints, mouse, face, lips or tongue edema), chest pain, fainting, fever, shivering or constant sore throat, heart rhythm disfunctions, painful erection, heavy constant giddiness.

Additional information

This drug intake in combination with other drugs is not recommended. Laboratory and/or medical tests (prostate examination, the PSA or kidney tests) should be conducted for treatment results assessment and side effects revealing.
