Usage indications
Cipro is used for bacterial infections treatment. This drug can be used for the prevention or slowing of anthrax development.
Application mode
Take Cipro in accordance with your doctor recommendations. Check the drug instruction manual to get detailed information about dosage. Cipro is for oral intake with or without food. The best time for this drug intake is 2 hours after food.
Take Cipro with full glass of water (8 ounces/ 240 mg). Take some additional glasses of water unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor.
Do not take any food containing magnesium, aluminium, calcium, iron or zinc (vitamins/ minerals, the agents neutralizing the acid, quinapril); didanosine; sucralfate or subether of bismuth subsalicylate acid within 6 hours before and 2 hours after. Consult with your doctor on any questions you have about Cipro intake.
Do not take sevelamer within 4 hours before or after Cipro intake. Consult with your doctor in case you have any questions about Cipro intake. Cipro acts better if taken at the same time every day.
In order to get full rid of infections take full course of Cipro. Continue taking Cipro even if you feel better within several days.
Avoid Cipro intake with milk or dairy products (yoghourt or calcium rich juice). Though the Cipro intake during the usage of full meal, containing milk or dairy products is allowed.
Drug class and mechanism of action
Cipro is fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for sensitive bacteria destruction. The drug action principle lies in the preventing the production of proteins necessary for bacteria survival.
Missed dose
Do not miss any dose. Take missed dose as soon as you remember about it. miss the missed dose if the time of intake corresponds to next dose intake and then follow your usual schedule. Double dosage intake is prohibited.
Storage
Store Cipro at the temperature not less than 86 F degrees.
Warning/Precautions
Do not take Cipro if:
- you are allergic to any of Cipro component or any other ftorchnilon (levofloxacin)
- you have recently had oral injection against typhus or you takecisapride or tizanidine
Inform your doctor or health care advisor immediately if any of the following relates to you.
Some diseases can influence Cipro. Inform your doctor if any of the following relates to you:
- pregnancy, plans to get pregnant or nursing
- you take any drugs sold with or without prescription, herbal add-ons or food add-onsесли
- you are allergic to drugs, food or other agents
- you have heart problems or chronic arrhythmia, low potassium level, altzgamer disease, disfunction of brain and nervous system, blood vessels problems at brain, diarrhea, stomach infection, liver problem, kidney problems, increased blood pressure at brain, attacks, sinew inflammation, general complex problems or skin sensitivity to sun.
Some drugs can interact with Cipro. Inform your doctor about the intake of any of the following drugs:
- Cisapride or 1A class, or antiarrhythmics III A class (quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, sotalol) as they might increase the risk of serious side effects development such as arrhythmia,
- corticosteroids (prednizon) as they might increase the risk of tendon problems
- arsenic, non steroid anti inflammatory drugs (NSAID) such as ibuprofen or probenecid as they might cause attacks,
- anticoagulants such as varfarin, arsenic, ciclosporin, metadon, metortexat, sulfonylureas (glyburide), teofillin, tizanidine or xanthines as they might increase the action and side effects of Cipro
- Hydantoins or oral injection against typhus as its efficiency might be decreased during Cipro intake.
Possible side effects
All drugs can cause side effects but most of the people do not feel their influence. Inform your doctor if any of the following THE MOST WIDESPREAD SIDE EFFECTSA persist or irritate:
- agitation, diarrhea, giddiness, headache, appetite loss, nausea, horrors; disorder, stomach upset, vision problems, vomiting.
As for urgent medical assistance if any of the following SERIOUS side effects arise:
- serious allergic reactions (rash, nettle rash, itch, breathing difficulties, chest hardening, mouth, face, lips or tongue edema); agitation, weird conduct, bloody stool; chest pain, convulsion, dark urine (or unusual change of urine amount); depression, giddiness, bruises or bleeding, cold fever or unusual cough; hallucination, increased blood pressure, inflammation, pain, or sinew breaking; arrhythmia, complex pain or edema, appetite loss, psychical changes, medium or strong sun burn; muscle pain, nervousness, candies stomatitis, pain, pale stool; constant quinsy, skin redness, edema, or blisters, attacks, heavy or prolonged diarrhea, insomnia, stomach spasms/pain, suicidal thoughts; hands or legs twinge or weakness, tremor, unusual tiredness, vaginal infection, skin or eyes yellowing.
